Jesuit Father Carl Dehne, 80, died May 13 in St. Louis. He was a Jesuit for 58 years and a priest for 46 years.

Father Dehne spent much of his life teaching theology, first at Rockhurst University and then at Loyola University Chicago (1978-1997). Father Dehne loved the liturgy and received permission to celebrate the liturgy according to the Byzantine rite. He had a talent for ensuring that those present had a genuine experience of worship.

In 1997, Father Dehne shifted to eldercare and pastoral ministry in St. Louis.
