Participants pray to end violence and promote peace during the ninth annual Sunrise Prayer Service and Mass at Oakwood/41st Street Beach, 4100 S. Lake Shore Drive, on Aug. 25. Worshippers gathered to pray for peace and the healing of families, schools and communities. The event is sponsored by the Black Deacons of Chicago.
