Our Lady of the Angels School fire never forgotten
Ninety-five people — 92 students and three teaching nuns — died in the fire that rampaged through the second floor of the north wing of the Our Lady of the Angels School near Hamlin and Chicago avenues, on Dec. 1, 1958.
St. Teresa of Kolkata often featured in our pages
Mother Teresa visited Chicago several times in her life and established a convent here in 1983. The sisters operate a soup kitchen at St. Malachy, and Mother Teresa visited the church several times when she came to Chicago — even acting as a godmother to one of their parishioners.
