Black Catholics celebrate their Faith

Photos from the 2013 Lyke Conference in Tinley Park. The three-day event was sponsored by the Lyke Foundation, which calls black Catholics to embrace their birthright and awakens Catholics to engage the richness and giftedness of the black community in the vibrant nature of the Catholic Church. Archbishop James Lyke was born in Chicago in 1939. He was ordained an auxiliary bishop of the Cleveland diocese in 1979 and was appointed archbishop of Atlanta in 1991. He died in 1992.
