Sayeed Mumin says he is happy with his new home at All Saints Residence, 11701 S. State St., in Chicago’s West Pullman community.

“I sleep like a baby at night or whenever I decide to go to bed,” he said. “I like the peace and quiet and how warm and friendly the tenants are.”

Mumin was on hand for the dedication of All Saints on May 30, which included a prayer service and blessing by Cardinal George.

All Saints — which is named for the church that used to stand on that property — adds 42 affordable apartments for seniors to a campus that already has 60 units next door at Catholic Charities’ Roseland Manor. Together, the buildings offer 102 units for independent living.

This is Catholic Charities 19th senior residence. All residents — who must be 62 or older — have their own units and pay rent equal to one-third of their income.

Reflecting in his homily about how we are all called to be saints, Cardinal George said, “Here there will be people who will be saints. I have no doubt about it.”
