Prayers to stop the violence

Religious leaders joined hundreds gathered next to St. Anselm Church, 6045 S. Michigan Ave., for a prayer service and peace march on Nov. 30 following the recent shootings of two men outside of St. Columbanus Church. The two men were exiting the funeral of James Holoman, a former gang member. Chicago police said one man was killed and another critically injured in the bloodshed. According to Father Gabriel, pastor of St. Anselm Church, prests who live at the rectory heard the shots that killed James Holman. The incident happened less than a block from St. Anselm. Community groups, schools, and churches gatherered at the vigil to call upon fellow neighbors to STOP the violence.
