As always, the Catholic New World congratulates all of our jubilarians on their service to the church. Adrian Dominicans 60 YEARS SR. THOMAS LEO MONAHAN, from St. Matthias Parish, has been an educator at St. Kilian; Santa Maria del Popolo, Mundelein; and St. Columbanus, as well as in Ohio and Michigan. She is principal at Visitation School, Elmhurst, Ill. Sisters of St. Joseph 70 YEARS SR. MARY ALICE GIESE, a Chicago native from St. Francis Xavier Parish, LaGrange, worked in education, administration and community leadership. She was an administrative assistant for the archdiocesan school board, vice president of her community and principal at Our Lady of Bethlehem, LaGrange, and Divine Infant, Westchester. SR. CAROLYN MCGINTY, a Chicago native from St. Francis Xavier Parish, LaGrange, was an educator at St. Barbara, Brookfield; St. Leonard, Berwyn; and Rosary College (now Dominican University), River Forest, where she taught at the graduate level. She is retired. SR. LORRAINE RUH, from Holy Rosary Parish, was a teacher and offered community support services. She served at St. Barbara, Brookfield; St. John Fisher and St. Francis Xavier, LaGrange. She is now a receptionist and switchboard supervisor for her community. 60 YEARS SR. PATRICIA BORCHARDT, a Chicago native from St. Mary of Celle Parish in Berwyn, has been an educator and administrator at St. Hugh, Lyons; St. Atrracta, Cicero; and Nazareth Academy, LaGrange Park, where she now is an assistant in the development office. SR. BARBARA LORD, a Chicago native from St. Eulalia Parish, Maywood, was an educator at St. Joseph Academy; St. Hugh, Lyons; St. Elizabeth; Our Lady of Pompeii; and St. Viator. She now offers community support services and is a seamstress for her congregation. SR. MARYBETH MCDERMOTT, from St. Bonaventure Parish, was an educator at St. John of the Cross, Western Springs; worked in the School on Wheels mobile literacy program; and now serves as an immigration advocate. SR. ALICE VINCENT has worked in education and pastoral care at St. John Fisher, Mount Carmel and St. Bonaventure. She now offers support services to her community. Medical Mission Sisters 60 YEARS SISTER JANET GOTTSCHALK, a Chicago native, graduated from Providence High School. She was a nurse, missionary, administrator, teacher, lecturer, community leader and author. She is an international public health specialist and has worked in Venezuela and served as a representative of the Medical Mission Sisters at the United Nations. She serves as director of her community’s Washington, D.C., Alliance for Justice Office and is a visiting professor at Texas A&M International University. School Sisters of Notre Dame 80 YEARS SISTER BERNITA HESSLING taught primary grades. She served at Holy Rosary, Our Lady of Vilna, St. Benedict and in Amboy, Ill. She is retired in Homer Glen. SISTER ANNE MAYER was a teacher, pastoral minister, writer and volunteer. She served at St. Michael, Our Lady Help of Christians, St. Benedict, Laboure House and at the Academy of Our Lady, where she wrote the history of the school and convent. She is retired at Resurrection Life Center. 60 YEARS SISTER JULICE BOTS, a Chicago native, was a teacher and administrator and did community service. She served at St. Constance, St. Alphonsus, Santa Lucia, St. Stanislaus Kostka and Academy of Our Lady Convent. She now volunteers at San Miguel School- Mater Christi, North Riverside. 50 YEARS SISTER CATHERINE PATRICE DROSZCZ, a Chicago native, was a pharmacy educator, innovator in health care and missionary. She also worked with physically and mentally abused children. She served at Martha Washington Hospital, St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital and Cook County Hospital, where she worked with the University of Illinois and developed the pediatric pharmacy department. She was the first non-physician woman appointed to the Department of Surgery at Creighton University, Omaha, Neb.; worked with Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Joliet and was among the first female missionaries in Yemen. She now does adult education tutoring in North Riverside. SISTER LORETTA MARIE ROSENDALE was a teacher, principal and administrator. She served in Washington, D.C.; Pennsylvania; and Maryland and now is the director of Corazon a Corazon, Chicago.
