Local groups receive Operation Rice Bowl grants

Forty-one local groups received grants from Catholic Relief Services 2010 Operation Rice Bowl. Each grant totaled $1,164.78 and was awarded through the archdiocese’s Office for Peace and Justice and its Catholic Relief Services office.

Operation Rice Bowl is the official Lenten program of Catholic Relief Services. Much of the money collected through the program helps fund development projects designed to increase food security in communities in over 40 countries around the world. Each dioceses keeps 25 percent of their annual collection and distributes that money locally to support hunger programs.
