Lent is a season of mercy when the Sacrament of Reconciliation is often highlighted. This Lent, as part of the Year of the Sacraments, parishes throughout the archdiocese will open their doors for 24 hours Feb. 27-28 (from noon to noon) and offer confessions or just time to talk to a priest. It’s being called the Festival of Forgiveness.

Archbishop Cupich announced the Festival of Forgiveness the morning of Ash Wednesday before he celebrated the 7:30 a.m. Mass at St. Peter’s in the Loop, 110 W. Madison St..

Each vicariate has at least one church participating. At press time many parishes already had confessors scheduled for the 24 hours.
