Imago Dei uses art to help at-risk youth in Little Village
“Imago Dei” is all about image, in the best way. The after-school program for middle school students aims to use art to reinforce the idea that all of them are indeed made in the image of God.
Carlos Terrazo gives instruction to Kevin Hernandez on a painting he is working on during their Thursday night meeting at the parish. Father Tom Boharic works with youth on creating artwork at St. Agnes of Bohemia Parish, 2651 S Central Park Ave., on Sept.17. The Imago Dei Project tries to engage youth from Little Village via the arts to stay away from gangs. They plan to do a series of murals in their community throughout October.
