40 Days of Prayer, Fasting & Action for CongressWith the U.S. Senate passing a broad bipartisan immigration reform bill in June, attention has turned to the House of Representatives, which could pass its own bill this fall.

During this critical time, the Office for Immigrant Affairs and Immigration Education has organized a 40‐Day Campaign of Prayer, Fasting and Action that began on Aug. 15 with a Mass on the Assumption at Lady of Mercy Church, 4432 N. Troy St.

The office invites Catholics from around the archdiocese to join in this campaign and to contact their legislators.

The campaign ends with an archdiocesan pilgrimage on Oct. 12 (details to be announced).

In a letter to parishes, Cardinal George encouraged participation in the campaign.

“During these next several months we have the opportunity and moral obligation to take concrete actions, as part of our wider evangelization efforts on the issue of immigration, to address this human tragedy in the United States. I am committed to doing so,” he wrote.
