Occupying the streets for Peace
Father Michael Pfleger from St. Sabina Parish led the "Occupy the Streets" march along West 79th Street denouncing violence in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on Chicago's South Side on June 21. The march, held on the first day of summer when annual gunshot deaths traditionally increase, included a collection of faiths and local organizations dedicated to reducing violence. More than 500 people attended the march, which would be followed by a march every Friday throughout the summer.
