St. Theresa School enrollment climbs steadily

St. Theresa School, 445 N. Benton St., Palatine opened their doors to 400 students for the 2019-2020 school year.

Student enrollment continues to climb at a steady rate of 5% each year. Larger student body brings more teachers and staff to the school.

St. Theresa prides themselves on a curriculum rich in academics and grounded in faith. The rigor of academics in combination with faith yielded success in the standardized test scores. Students continue to exceed the national standards in reading, English, math and science with scores in the 90th - 96th percentile.

The recent school renovations provide large bright classrooms for students ranging in Preschool through 8th grade. The preschool and kindergarten programs provide parents with a morning or an all-day option.

Also included is free transportation through the district. "One campus certainly makes it convenient for parents with multi-age children," says Christina Pfaller, Director of St. Theresa's Extended Day-Care. St. Theresa School's extended care runs from 6:30 AM - 6 PM. Science is booming - in addition to the two indoor science labs, the science department added an outdoor living science laboratory complete with a compost bin.

Besides the core subjects including, math, science, English and the Language Arts, reading and religion, St. Theresa's curriculum also provides enrichment classes that include foreign language beginning in kindergarten, art, music, drama, technology and Physical Education. The co-curricular opportunities include, athletics, choir, band, cooking classes, scouting, art, robotics and a host of others.

Administration and teachers work together with parents when it comes to their children's education; however, the foundation for learning begins at home.
