On Sept. 29, St. Paul of the Cross parish in Park Ridge welcomed Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., to commemorate the beginning of October's Respect Life month.

Dr. King shared the moving story of how her family's legacy in the civil rights movement, along with her own two abortions, led her to speak out on behalf of the innocent unborn. Dr. King gave an inspirational presentation, reminding the audience that in Scripture, God calls each of us to choose life.

She echoed her uncle's quote that "injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" and spoke about the importance of living lives grounded in the ways of God and His love. Everyone at St. Paul of the Cross was honored and grateful for Dr. King's inspiring visit.
