Memorial Day Mass a tradition for many in Glenwood
Augustinian Bishop Daniel Turley celebrates a Memorial Day Mass at Assumption Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Glenwood on May 26, 2025. The Archdiocese of Chicago Catholic Cemeteries hosted its annual field Masses at 21 cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake counties. Guests prayed for peace and honored those who have served this country and remembered the fallen. Active members of the military and veterans received a special blessing during the liturgies followed by the playing of Taps. Bishop Turley, a member of the Midwest Augustinian Province, blessed the graves of fellow Augustinian Pope Leo XIV in a private ceremony following the Mass. (Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic)
