Cardinal Cupich joined Loyola Medicine physicians, nurses, chaplains and students at a press conference April 17, 2018, at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood in support of sensible gun laws and the Gun Dealer Licensing Bill (SB 1657), which needs a legislative veto override in order to become law. Loyola Medicine cares for about 300 gunshot victims each year. An interdisciplinary committee is addressing gun violence as a public health epidemic.(Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic)
