70 years

Father Albert Adamich, 95, was born in Joliet and attended St. Joseph School. He attended the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary and served as associate pastor at Mother of God, Waukegan (1948-1966); St. Hubert, Hoffman Estates (1966-1970); St. Symphorosa (1970-1971); and Most Holy Redeemer, Evergreen Park (1991-1992). He was pastor of Mother of God (1971-1991). He has resided at Most Holy Redeemer since he retired in 1992.


50 years

Father Robert Beaven, 76, was born in Chicago and attended St. Peter and St. Lambert schools in Skokie, Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He served as associate pastor of Our Lady of Ransom, Niles (1968-1974) and St. Cornelius (1974-1975). He was on the faculty at Niles College (1975-1990) and served in 1989 as associate pastor of St. Peter Damian Parish, Bartlett. He was pastor of St. Gilbert, Grayslake (1990-2005) and St. Benedict, Irving Park (2005-2012). He was administrator of St. Juliana (2015-2016). He will celebrate his anniversary at 5 p.m. May 19 at St. Gilbert.


Father August Belauskas, 74, was born in Chicago and attended Little Flower School, Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity, Winnetka (1968-1973), and St. Alphonsus Liguori, Prospect Heights (1973-1974). He was on the faculty of Niles College (1974-1986) and has served on the faculty of Mundelein Seminary since 1986. He will celebrate his anniversary at 5 p.m. May 19 at St. Gilbert.

Monsignor George Dobes, 75, was born in Chicago and attended Epiphany School, Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier (Nelson Street) (1968-1971) and a chaplain in the U.S. Navy (1971-1995), from which he retired as captain. He studied at the Catholic University of America (1995-1997), earning a degree in canon law, and then served as judicial vicar and vice chancellor of the Archdiocese for Military Services (1997-2002). Since 2002, he has served as a judge and canonical consultant for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C. He was named a prelate of honor by Pope St. John Paul II in 1994.

Father Leonard Dubi, 75, was born in Chicago and attended Joseph Warren Elementary School and Bowen High School before entering the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at St. Andrew (1968-1969); St. Daniel the Prophet (1969-1974); Our Lady of the Angels (1974-1978); Our Lady of the Ridge, Chicago Ridge (1978-1981); and Queen of Apostles, Riverdale (1981-1984). He was pastor at St. Anne, Hazel Crest (1984-2005), and St. Victor, Calumet City (2006-2012). He now is pastor emeritus of St. Victor. He celebrated his anniversary with Mass at St. Daniel the Prophet on May 6 and will celebrate at St. Anne, Hazel Crest, on May 20 and at St. Victor May 27.

Father Laurence Dunn, 75, was born in Waukegan and attended the School of St. Mary, Lake Forest, Quigley Preparatory Seminary, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor (1968-1972) and pastor of St. Philip the Apostle (1985-2003); associate pastor at Holy Cross, Deerfield (2003-2004); and pastor of St. Patrick, Lake Forest (2004-2017). He also served on the faculty at Niles College (1972-1985) and as a counselor for the Catholic Family Consultation Service (1975-1985), and as an adjunct faculty member at the University of St. Mary of the Lake (2004-2015). He has been a resident priest at the Catholic Community of Northbrook since 2017. He will celebrate his anniversary May 19 at the 5 p.m. Mass at St. Patrick, Lake Forest, with a reception following.

Father Harold Murphy, 81, was born in Chicago and attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and St. George High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Loyola University Chicago and a master’s degree in English at Northwestern University before entering Pope John XXIII Seminary. He served as associate pastor at St. Catherine of Siena (1968-1974); St. James, Arlington Heights (1974-1981); and St. Monica (1981-1986); and pastor of St. Timothy (1986-2006). He was a resident at St. Margaret Mary. He also served as secretary of the priests’ senate and dean of Vicariate II-B and taught part-time at Loyola University. He will celebrate his anniversary with a Mass May 27 at 1 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary, with a reception to follow.

Father John Murray, 80, was born in Chicago and attended St. Hilary School and St. George High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Notre Dame before entering the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He served as associate pastor at St. Francis Xavier (1968-1969), St. Agatha (1969-1974) and St. Thomas Aquinas (1974-1980). He then served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy until 1990.

Bishop George Rassas, 75, was born in Baltimore. He attended Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity School, Winnetka; Quigley Preparatory Seminary; Niles College of Loyola University; and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at Queen of the Rosary, Elk Grove Village (1968-1974); St. Genevieve (1974-1983); St. Norbert, Northbrook (1983-1988); and Sacred Heart, Winnetka (1988-1990). He was pastor of St. Mary, Lake Forest (1990-2004) before becoming vicar general of the Archdiocese of Chicago (2004-2006). He was ordained an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2006 and became episcopal vicar of Vicariate I that year. He has also served as associate director of the Catholic Family Consultation Service, associate moderator of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women, director of the Family Ministries Office and chairman of the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council and was founder of Cristo Rey St. Martin College Prep, Waukegan. He celebrated his anniversary at Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity in April.

Father John J. (Jack) Wall, 76, was born in Chicago and attended St. Mary of the Assumption School, Riverdale, Quigley Preparatory Seminary and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor of St. Ita (1968-1972) before serving on the faculty of Niles College of Loyola University (1972-1979) and associate director of vocations for the archdiocese (1979-1985). He was pastor of Old St. Patrick’s Parish (1983-2007) and has served as president of the Catholic Extension Society since 2007. He celebrated his anniversary May 6 at Old St. Pat’s.

25 years

 Father Eduardo Garcia-Ferrer, 54, was born in Santiago de Cuba and moved to Chicago with his family in 1974. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and St. Benedict High School, Loyola University Chicago and Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in Emmitsburg, Maryland. He was ordained a priest in 1993 for the Diocese of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He returned to Chicago in 2003 and has served at St. John Vianney, Northlake; St. Stanislaus Kostka; and St. Peter, Volo. In 2011 he was assigned to St. Ansgar, Hanover Park, where he is pastor. He will celebrate his anniversary May 26 at the 11 a.m. Mass, with a reception following.

Father Jacek Dada, 51, was born in Poland and attended school there. He went to undergraduate seminary at the Institute of Theology in Przemysl, Poland, and major seminary at the Catholic Institute of John Paul II in Lublin. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he served as associate pastor at St. Daniel the Prophet (2000-2005): St. Matthew, Schaumburg (2005-2007); Holy Cross, Deerfield (2007-2009): and St. Emily, Mount Prospect (2009-2010). He has served as pastor of St. Andrew the Apostle, Calumet City, since 2010. He was incardinated as a priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago in 2009 and became a U.S. citizen in 2011. He will celebrate his anniversary May 20 with 10 a.m. Mass at St. Andrew the Apostle with a reception to follow in the parish hall.

Father Vinh Ha, 64, was born in Thai Binh, Vietnam, and attended school there. In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he attended the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor of St. Ita (1993-1999) and St. Theresa (1999-2002). He served as pastor of St. Henry (2002-2014) and has served as associate pastor at Our Lady of Lourdes since 2016.

Father Thomas Hurley, 51, was born in Evergreen Park and attended St. Cajetan School, Marist High School, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at Most Holy Redeemer, Evergreen Park, and St. Cajetan. He served as formation director and vocation director at St. Joseph College Seminary (1997-2003). He then ministered at Old St. Patrick’s Parish as associate pastor (2003-2007) and pastor (2007-present). He also has served as chaplain of Marist High School (1993-present) and of the Cook County Sheriff’s Police (1997-2005). He will celebrate his anniversary at Old St. Pat’s at a date to be determined. 

Father Richard Jakubik, 51, was born in Chicago and attended James Giles School and Ridgewood High School in Norridge, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He also has a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He resided at Five Holy Martyrs Parish; was associate pastor at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Glenview (1994-1998); resided at St. Francis Xavier, Wilmette (1998-2017) and now serves as associate pastor at Holy Family, Inverness. He also has ministered at Archbishop Quigley Seminary and at Catholic Charities,

Father Mariusz Nawalaniec, 49, was born in Limanowa, Poland, and attended elementary and secondary school there. He did his seminary studies in Tarnow. He served as associate pastor at parishes in Poland: Mikluszowice (1993-1995), Jodtowa (1995-1997) and Tarnow-Noslice (1997-2001). In the Archdiocese of Chicago, he served as associate pastor at St. Ladislaus (2001-2006); St. Albert the Great, Burbank (2006-2011); and St. Symphorosa (2011-2015); He was temporary administrator at Mary Queen of Apostles (2015-2016) and was named pastor of St. Albert the Great in 2016. He will celebrate his anniversary there May 26 with a 5 p.m. Mass followed by a banquet in Rogers Hall.

Father Sergio Romo, 50, was born in Chicago and attended St. Michael the Archangel School (South Shore Drive), Quigley Seminary South, Niles College of Loyola University and the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He was associate pastor at St. Genevieve (1993-1998), director of liturgy at St. Joseph College Seminary (1998-2000), and associate pastor at St. John Berchmans (2000-2002) and St. Marcelline, Schaumburg (2002-2009). He has served as pastor of St. Andrew (Paulina Street) since 2009, and served on the archdiocesan school board since 2016. He will celebrate his anniversary May 20 at the 10 a.m. Mass at St. Andrew, followed by a reception in the gymnasium.

Father Peter Sneig, 55, was born in Chicago and attended St. Robert Bellarmine School, Taft High School and Northeastern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. He studied at the University of St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary. He resided at St. Martha, Morton Grove (1993-1994), and was associate pastor at St. Priscilla (1994-1996) before serving as teacher and rector at Quigley Preparatory Seminary (1995-2007) while residing at Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Belmont Avenue). He served as vice rector (2007-2010) and rector (2010-2012) of St. Joseph College Seminary before being named Moderator of the Curia (2012-2015). He has served as rector at St. Joseph College Seminary since 2015.
