With this issue, Chicago Catholic salutes and thanks the religious men and women who have devoted their lives to serving the people of God. Sisters of St. Casimir
75 years
Sister Andreata Naudziunas was born in South Boston, Massachusetts, and served in education, accounting and data entry. In Chicago she taught at St. George (Bridgeport), All Saints School (Roseland), Nativity BVM (Chicago Lawn), Providence of God (Pilsen), and served in the Sisters of St. Casimir’s food pantry, Holy Cross Hospital’s business office and Maria High School’s alumnae office. She does prayer ministry at Our Lady of Victory Convent in Lemont. 

Sister Evelyn Vichoras taught at Our Lady of Vilna and Nativity BVM and was a nurse at Loretto Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital and in Nebraska. She does prayer ministry at Franciscan Village in Lemont.

60 years
Sister M. Janine Golubickis taught at All Saints (Roseland), Sts. Peter and Paul and Providence of God. She was a pastoral associate at All Saints-St. Anthony and St. Paul (22nd Place) and did pastoral ministry at Holy Family Villa. She also did vocation and formation ministry. She now is the coordinator for assisted living for sisters at Franciscan Village, Lemont.
Sister Marilyn Kuzmickus, from St. Bartholomew Parish, Waukegan, was an educator at Immaculate Conception (44th Street), St. George (Bridgeport), Sts. Peter and Paul, Providence of God and Maria High School. She also worked in formation ministry and congregational leadership. She does prayer ministry at Franciscan Village in Lemont.
Sister Lucille Zelvys taught at Providence of God and Immaculate Conception (44th Street) and served as a nurse at Loretto Hospital, Maria High School and Holy Cross Hospital. She does prayer ministry at Franciscan Village in Lemont.

50 years
Sister Regina Marie Dubickas taught at Immaculate Conception (44th Street), Nativity BVM and Providence of God. She also worked in vocation and formation ministry and as a psychologist. She now is the congregation’s general superior. 

Sisters of Christian Charity

80 years
Sister Consuela Chase worked in elementary education and community leadership, as a secretary, as director of English as a second language at Mallinkrodt College and Loyola University Chicago; in the SCC literacy program; and as a clerk. She served at St. Gregory High School; St. Raphael; Josephinum High School and Convent; St. Joseph Convent; Maria Immaculata Convent, Sacred Heart Convent, Wilmette; and in Missouri, Minnesota and Iowa. She does prayer and presence at Sacred Heart Convent, Wilmette.

75 years 
Sister Henrica Buchert worked in elementary education and administration, religious education, local community leadership, music and art education. She served at St. Gregory; St. Teresa of Avila; St. Joseph, Wilmette; Holy Ghost School, South Holland; Josephinum High School; and in Michigan and Louisiana. She now is a religious education tutor and a writer of jubilee letters to Sisters of Christian Charity in the Eastern Province and Western Region.
Sister Carolyn Eultgen worked in elementary education and administration; community leadership; pastoral ministry to Native Americans on the Cheyenne River Reservation in Eagle Butte, North Dakota; and adult education. She served at St. Raphael; St. Gregory; St. Martha, Morton Grove; St. Theresa, Palatine; Sacred Heart Convent, Wilmette; and in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Minnesota and South Dakota. She does prayer and presence at Sacred Heart Convent, Wilmette.

70 years
Sister Caroline Schafer worked in education, as councilor to the major superior and as councilor to the general superior in Rome. She served at St. Gregory; St. Martha, Morton Grove; Holy Ghost, South Holland; was formator of novices at the Wilmette motherhouse and provincial councilor there; was local leader at St. Joseph Convent, Wilmette; and served in Iowa, Minnesota, Louisiana and Missouri. She is the administrator at Sacred Heart Convent, SCC retirement home, Wilmette.

60 years
Sister Mary Ann Warwick, from St. Thomas of Canterbury, worked in elementary education and administration, religious education, regional ministry as secretary, as an organist for liturgies and local coordinator of Companions of Pauline. She served at St. Alphonsus Liguori, Prospect Heights; St. Teresa of Avila; and Maria Immaculata Convent, Wilmette. She is the secretary for the regional leadership team.

40 years
Sister Monica Cormier has worked in education, parish ministry, vocation and formation ministry and SCC community leadership. She served at Josephinum High School; St. Aloysius; on the provincial leadership and vocation teams in Wilmette; and in Michigan, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico and Florida. She is a vocation team member, local house treasurer and a full-time caregiver to her mother in Louisiana.

Sisters of St. Cyril and Methodius

Sister Deborah Marie Borneman serves in the Archdicoese of Chicago as director of member relations and services for the National Religious Vocation Conference. She formerly worked in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Sister Cecilia Marie Brown was an elementary school teacher and plant manager. She served at St. Edmund, Oak Park; St. Denis; St. Albert the Great, Oak Lawn; St. Mary Star of the Sea; and St. Collette, Rolling Meadows and was the plant manager at Immaculata Congregational Home, Bartlett. She does ministry of prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse in Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Carol Louise Hiller was a teacher, librarian and school secretary. She served at St. Rita; St. Killian; St. Kevin; St. Albert the Great, Oak Lawn; and at Aquinas High School. She ministers in prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Miriam Joseph Lekan was an elementary school teacher and a licensed practical nurse. She served at Bishop Quarter High School, Oak Park. She ministers in prayer and service at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Virginia O’Reilly was an elementary, high school and college teacher, library assistant and clinical psychologist. She served at St. Rita and Aquinas Dominican High School and was an assistant teacher at the Illinois Institute of Technology. She ministers in prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Mary Willard Reagan was an elementary and high school teacher, principal and guidance director. She served at St. Edmund, Oak Park, and now ministers in prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.

Sister Shirley (Elaine Therese) Boettcher was an elementary school teacher, licensed practical nurse, residence moderator, chaplain and nursing home minister. She served at St. Rita, St. Carthage, St. Columbanus, St. Nicholas of Tolentine and Bishop Quarter High School, Oak Park. She is a chaplain and nursing home minister in Lake Placid, Florida.
Sister Jeanne (Thomas Raymond) Burns, a Chicago native, was an elementary and high school teacher, principal, chaplain, hospital administrator and congregational leader. She ministers in prayer and service at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Sarah (Michael Henry) Cavanaugh was a teacher, principal and administrative assistant. She served at St. Philip Neri and Aquinas Dominican High School and was a principal at Regina Dominican High School, Wilmette. She is a literacy center assistant at the Adrian Res Literacy Center and lives at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister JoAnn (Marie Bernard) Fleischaker, from Queen of Angels Parish, was a teacher, principal, pastoral minister and guidance counselor. She served at St. Clare of Montefalco, Aquinas High School and studied clinical pastoral education at Children’s Memorial Hospital. She does volunteer work and lives in Chicago.
Sister Eileen (Margaret Aloysius) Meyers was a teacher, principal and pastoral minister who served at St. Kilian. She does prayer and service at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Janet (Mary Paulette) Persyk was a high school teacher, librarian, chaplain and pastoral minister to the elderly. She served at Resurrection Medical Center, St. Elizabeth Hospital and at Marillac House. She ministers in prayer and service in Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Mary Ann (Albert Anne) Rybarczyk was an elementary and high school teacher and principal. She served at St. James, Maywood. She ministers in prayer and presence in Stevensville, Michigan.

Sister Cyrilla Zarek, from St. Ailbe Parish, was an elementary school teacher, principal, nurse’s aide, pastoral associate and chaplain. Sister Patricia (Francis Kevin) Brady, from St. Kilian Parish, was a teacher, principal and community leader. She served at Immaculate Heart of Mary High School, Westchester, and Mother McAuley High School; was a chapter prioress for her congregation in Hometown; worked in the Dominican Youth Ministry and was director of the Dominican Association of Secondary Schools. She is retired at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Eunice (Marie John) Drazba, from St. Mary Magdalene Parish, was a teacher, religious educator and pastoral minister. She served as facilities director of St. Leonard’s House. She now ministers in prayer and presence in Westchester.
Sister Loretta (Therese Paul) Glanz was an elementary school teacher and principal. She served at St. Mary Star of the Sea, St. Laurence and Santa Maria del Popolo. She works as a substitute teacher for Joliet diocesan schools and lives in Westmont.
Sister Frances Lombaer, from St. Philip Neri Parish, was an elementary school teacher, principal, secretary, executive assistant and archivist. All of her ministries were outside Illinois, including two years teaching in South Africa. She ministers in prayer and service at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Helen (Denis Margaret) McAllister, an Evergreen Park native from St. Carthage Parish, was an elementary and high school teacher, campus minister and principal. She served at Immaculate Heart of Mary High School, Westchester; St. Cyprian, River Grove; St. Benedict, Blue Island; and Queen of Peace High School, Burbank. She ministers in prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Helen Diane (Ina Marie) McGuirt, from St. Rita of Cascia Parish, was an elementary school teacher, pastoral minister, community support counselor and religious education coordinator. She served at Queen of Angels, St. Columbanus and Bishop Quarter High School, Oak Park. She ministers in prayer and service at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Joella (Joella Patrice) Miller, an Elgin native, was a teacher, principal and congregation leader. She served at St. Nicholas of Tolentine, St. Philip Neri, St. Mary Star of the Sea and St. Clare of Montefalco and was the chapter prioress of her congregation in Hometown. She is retired and does volunteer work in Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Judith Ann Seefeld was an elementary teacher who served at St. Laurence and St. Rita. She ministers in prayer and presence at the Adrian Dominican Motherhouse, Adrian, Michigan.
Sister Janet (James Kathleen) Traut, an Evergreen Park native from St. Kilian Parish, was an elementary school teacher, adult educator and a member of the Literacy Center staff. All of her ministries were in Michigan. She ministers in prayer and service in Dearborn, Michigan.
Sister Jude Van Baalen was an elementary school teacher and did religious education, pastoral ministry and adult formation. She served at Queen of Angels and now ministers in prayer and service. She is retired in Westchester.
Sister Mary (Michael Bridget) Ward, from Queen of Angels Parish, was an elementary school teacher, guidance counselor, secretary and clerical worker. She served at St. Columbanus; St. Ailbe; St. Celestine, Elmwood Park; and St. Ferdinand. She ministers in prayer and service in Warren, Michigan.

50 years
Sister Kathleen (Patricia Ann) Klingen, from St. Ailbe Parish, was an elementary school teacher and administrator. She served at St. Mary Star of the Sea, St. Clare of Montefalco and Our Lady of the Westside and was administrator for 25 years at St. Cyprian, River Grove. She now is her congregation’s chapter prioress and lives in Chicago.
Sister Donna Markham, an Evanston native, has been a teacher, psychotherapist, psychologist and community leader. She served as executive director of behavioral health services and as a psychologist and psychotherapist at Mercy Hospital and the University of Chicago and was prioress of the Adrian Dominican Congregation. She is the president/CEO of Catholic Charities USA in Alexandria, Virginia, where she lives.
Sister Nancy (Marie Erin) Murray, an Evanston native from St. Joseph Parish, Wilmette, was a high school teacher, campus minister and pastoral associate. She served at St. Sylvester and Regina Dominican High School, Wilmette. She now performs as St. Catherine of Siena and lives in Adrian, Michigan.

Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, New York
50 years
Sister Kathleen Donnelly, a Chicago native from Sacred Heart Parish, Winnetka, worked in elementary education and school administration. She was principal at Sacred Heart School, Winnetka, for 17 years and served as principal for 24 years in St. Louis. She is a member of the executive committee, Dominican Sisters Conference, River Forest, and does campus ministry at Josephinum Academy.

75 years
Sister Martina Finn taught primary grades at Our Lady of Grace; St. Lawrence O’Toole, Matteson; St. Edward; and St. Bernadette, Evergreen Park. She does ministry of prayer at Sacred Heart Convent, Springfield, Illinois.

Sister M. Angelene Biderbost ministered in elementary education at St. Edward and St. Christina. She is a tutor at St. Patrick School, receptionist at Sacred Heart Convent and religious education teacher St. Agnes Parish, all in Springfield, Illinois.
Sister Bernice (M. Anthony) Julp worked in elementary education and administration and served at St. Christina. She is an administrative assistant for the prioress general at Sacred Heart Convent, Springfield, Illinois.
Sister Mary Jerome Quinn worked in primary education at St. Edward; St. James, Sauk Village; St.Bernadette, Evergreen Park; and Our Lady of Grace. She volunteers at Holy Family Parish, Decatur, Illinois.
Sister M. Linda Tonellato worked in education and religious education at St. Bernadette, Evergreen Park, and Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights. She is the Heritage Room curator, Sacred Heart Convent, Springfield, Illinois.

Sister Martha Marie (Mary Marlene) Kirback worked in primary education and served at the Dominican Literacy Center. She is a teacher’s aide at St. Agnes School and does pastoral care at St. Joseph Parish, both in Springfield, Illinois.
Sister M. Joan Sorge worked in elementary education and administration. She served at St. John Bosco and was the principal at Marian Catholic High School, Chicago Heights. She is principal at St. Agnes, Springfield, Illinois.

Sister Stephana Garvey was a teacher and religious education coordinator. She served at St. Barnabas; St. Philip the Apostle, Northfield; St. Vincent Ferrer, River Forest; Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity, Winnetka; was a volunteer at the Rose K. Goedert Center for Early Childhood Education at Dominican University, River Forest; and in Wisconsin, Florida and Minnesota. Sister Vivian (Priscilla) Gorman worked in education and school administration and as a religious education coordinator. She served at St. Richard; St. Patrick, Lemont; St. Philip the Apostle, Northfield; Sts. Sister Alban Hermes was a teacher and school administrator for 30 years and pastoral minister for 35 years. Sister Helen (Marie Clara) Martin was a teacher and administrator. She was her congregation’s vicaress provincial for the South Province and served at St. Thomas the Apostle; Sts. Faith, Hope and Charity, Winnetka; in Rockford, Illinois; and in Wisconsin, Alabama and Minnesota. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Sister Loretta (Marie Simeon) McIlvenna was a teacher and administrator. She served at St. Cajetan, St. Thomas More, Visitation, and in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee, Alabama and Oklahoma.
Sister Anne Marie (Thomas á Becket) Mongoven, from St. Giles Parish, Oak Park, was a teacher and writer. She directed the pastoral ministries graduate program at Santa Clara University, California, and was the director of Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults program at a parish there. She also served in Minnesota; Nebraska; Washington, D.C.; and in Wisconsin. She is a writer and lives at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.
Sister Baptist Sohrer, from St. Athanasius, Evanston, was a teacher and liturgist. She taught music at Rosary College/Dominican University and was the university ministry liturgist. She also served in Iowa, Wisconsin, South Dakota and Florence, Italy. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Sister Marie Bertrand Wright taught high school science and was a school administrator. She served at St. Thomas the Apostle; in Bloomington, Illinois; and in Alaska, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Alabama and Iowa. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.

Sister Joan (Yoland) Brichacek, a Chicago native from St. Vincent Ferrer Parish, River Forest, taught and was an administrator and minister of care. She served at the Bartlett Learning Center, Bartlett; Dominican University School of Education, River Forest; Church of the Holy Spirit, Schaumburg; was the finance officer and secretary for the Eastern Province of her congregation and worked in Wisconsin, South Dakota and New York. She lives at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.
Sister Carol (Honorata) Fox is a Chicago native whose home parish was St. Margaret Mary. She was a teacher and school administrator. She served at St. Brendan, St. Cajetan and Epiphany and in Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, New York, Missouri and Washington, D.C. She works as an English as a second language teacher at Oakton Community College, Des Plaines.
Sister Diane (Mary Alana) Kennedy, a Chicago native from St. Giles Parish, Oak Park, was a teacher and administrator. She served as vice president for mission and ministry at Dominican University, River Forest, and in Wisconsin, Nebraska and Minnesota. She is the promoter of the cause of Venerable Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP and lives at Dominican University.
Sister Mercedes (Mary Meloria) Kucera, a Chicago native from St. Giles Parish, Oak Park, was a teacher and religious educator who worked with people who had mental and physical challenges. She served at St. Sabina; the General Education Development (GED) program at the Westside Center; Trinity High School, River Forest; and in Minnesota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, Florida and Wisconsin, where she was a volunteer with the Sinsinawa Mound Children’s Choir. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Sister Mary (Ivana) Mahony, a Chicago native from St. Mary Parish, Evanston, worked in elementary and adult education and as a pastoral minister. She served at St. Brendan, St. Richard and St. Thomas the Apostle and in Wisconsin, Alabama, Minnesota and Washington, D.C. 
Sister Susanne (Julianus) McDonald taught at Visitation; St. Thomas More; St. Giles, Oak Park; and in New Jersey and Wisconsin. 
Sister Mary Virginia “Ginger” (Gratian) Phillips was a teacher, pastoral minister and community administrator. She served at Visitation and the Westside Employment Center, was the provincial councilor for her congregation’s Northeast Province and worked in Minnesota and Alabama. She has volunteered with formerly incarcerated women and men at Chicago’s St. Leonard Ministries since 2007. 
Sister Bernadette Ries worked in health care. She was an X-ray technician, vocation director, chaplain and administrator. She served at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood; at Chicago’s Hazelden Center; and in Washington. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.
Sister Leonius Skaar was a teacher and school administrator. She served at St. Cajetan; Visitation; St. Patrick, Lemont; in Bloomington, Illinois; and in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Florida. She lives at the motherhouse, Sinsinawa, Wisconsin.

50 years
Sister Jeri (Mary DePaul) Cashman was a social worker, teacher, pastoral minister, justice and peace campus minister and an advocate for life and mission for her congregation. She served at the University of Illinois at Chicago; in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin; and in Bolivia and Mexico. 
Sister Ellen (Marie Michaela) Gaynor, from St. John the Baptist Parish, is an oncologist and teacher in the medical field. She served in Wisconsin and at Loyola University Medical Center, Maywood, where she has been an oncology specialist since 1978 and a Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine faculty member since 1986. 
Sister Mary (Mary Henry) Montgomery, from St. Christina Parish, was a teacher and parish and diocesan administrator. She served in Rockford, Illinois; in Wisconsin, where she was superintendent of Catholic schools in Madison; and in Iowa, where she served as the director of pastoral planning for the archdiocese. She lives at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wisconsin.

Felician Sisters 
75 years
Sister Mary Sebastia Dzwierzynski, from St. John of God Parish, worked in education, supportive services and care for the aged. She served at Sts. Peter and Paul, Sacred Heart, St. Bruno, St. Bronislava, St. Andrew Home, Niles; and did housekeeping duties at the residence of the Chicago archbishop and in the dioceses of Peoria and Rockford, Illinois, and Wisconsin. She does prayer ministry at Our Lady of the Angels Convent.
Sister Mary Lourdine Lachowski, worked in education and phone ministry. She served at St. Helen; St. Joseph; St. Bruno; St. Wenceslaus; Ascension; Holy Innocents; St. Linus, Oak Lawn; Our Lady of Ransom, Niles; in the Diocese of Peoria, Illinois, and in Wisconsin. She ministers at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.
Sister Paul Marie Pietroczynski is a Chicago native whose home parish was Holy Innocents. She devoted her religious life to education and phone ministry. She served at St. Bruno; St. Turibius; St. Bronislava; St. Mary Magdalene; St. Hedwig; Our Lady of the Gardens; St. Joseph; Sacred Heart; St. Wenceslaus; Our Lady of Ransom in Niles; in the Dioceses of Peoria, Illinois; and in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Alabama. She now ministers at Mercy Home for Boys and Girls.

Sister Mary Eulodia Gramczak, from St. James Parish, worked in education, school administration, as a counselor and in prayer ministry. She served at St. John of God, St. Helen, Good Counsel High School, St. Joseph High School, Felician College, Montay College, CICS Northtown Academy and Providence High School, New Lenox, Illinois. She now does prayer ministry at Our Lady of the Angels Convent.
Sister Mary Ruthilia Kobitta, from St. Joseph Parish, worked in education, supportive services and prayer ministry. She served at St. James; St. Wenceslaus; St. Mary Magdalene; St. Isidore, Blue Island; St. Linus, Oak Lawn; St. Turibius, in the Dioceses of Peoria and Joliet, Illinois, and in Wisconsin. She now does prayer ministry at Our Lady of the Angels Convent.
Sister Mary Elrita Zoromski worked in education, school administration and care of the aged, and as a receptionist and sacristan. Sister Doloria Kosiek, from St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Parish, was a teacher, director of religious education, spiritual director, vocation director, pastoral associate and is a recipient of the Franciscan Federation Peacemaker Award. Sister Dominic Krivich, from Sacred Heart Parish (Englewood), was a teacher, administrator and pastoral minister to the homebound elderly and people in nursing homes. She served at Sacred Heart, Winnetka; Our Lady of the Ridge, Chicago Ridge; and in the Joliet diocesan Catholic schools office. She also founded the Fran Center to assist students in remedial education.

Sister Donna Marie Baier, from Sacred Heart Parish (Englewood), was a teacher and school administrator and worked with the elderly. She served in Manhattan, Illinois; Ohio; the Franciscan Learning Center; and at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, where she directs the Gifts Shop.
Sister Kathryn Stimac worked in education in Joliet, Illinois, and Ohio. She also worked for Evanston School District 65 as a receptionist and human resources assistant. She is a member of St. Gertrude Parish, where she serves as a minister of the Word and extraordinary minister of Communion, and she has contributed more than 4,000 hours of volunteer time serving in the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital and as a “cuddler” at the Cradle, both in Evanston.

Sister Laurene Brady, a Chicago native, was an educator, administrator, pastoral minister and treasurer and vice president of the BVM congregation. Sister Mary Louise (James Mary) Caffery was an educator. She served at Carmel Catholic High School, Mundelein, and in California and Iowa, where she is a grant writer.

Sister Carol (Michaeleen) Meyers, from Maternity BVM Parish, was a teacher, Montessori consultant, school administrator and adult educator. Sister Mary Evelyn Giemza taught elementary school for 10 years at Resurrection Academy, St. Mary of the Angels and in Alabama. She was a nurse at Resurrection Medical Center for 31 years, serving in anesthesia, surgery, the emergency room, the recovery room, outpatient care and as a surgical unit supervisor. She does ministry of prayer at Queen of the Resurrection House of Prayer.

Sister Stephanie Blaszczynski, from St. Mary of the Angels Parish, taught science and math at Resurrection High School for 20 years and was president of the school for six years. She served on the order’s general council and as treasurer in Rome and was provincial in Chicago. She now is provincial treasurer. She also served as headmistress of a school in Tanzania for four years.

Sister Donna Marie Wolowicki, from St. Thecla Parish, is president of Resurrection College Prep High School. She was a nurse at Resurrection Medical Center before serving for 22 years as CEO of Resurrection Medical Center and Holy Family Medical Center. She also did formation work for seven years.

Father Felix Eckerman was a pastoral minister, novice master, rector and chaplain. He served in India for 50 years and ministered among the Bhilalas tribes of Indore. He was also a chaplain to the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters in St. Louis. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.

Brother Patrick Hegarty sold Catholic goods to support missionary work and aid to migrants. He is a founder of Divine Word greeting cards in Ireland; sold The Word magazine in Ireland, England and Scotland; was secretary to the mission secretary, Pontificio Collegio San Pietro Apostolo and the Society of the Divine Word Generalate in Rome; sold altar wines in the United States and worked with refugees in the Diocese of Trenton, New Jersey. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.

Father Michael Bonner, from St. Francis de Sales Parish, was a missionary in the Philippines for 25 years and a pastoral minister. He served at St. Benedict the African and St. Bronislava and was pastor of St. Joseph the Worker, Wheeling. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.
Father Robert Mertes, a Chicago native from St. Peter, Skokie, worked in publishing, education, chaplaincy and missionary work in the United States, Australia and Japan. As a brother, he worked at Techny’s Mission Press and served as a cook, an organist and sacristan. After being ordained a priest in 1978, he taught English in Japan and religious education, drama and reading in Wisconsin; was an ESL instructor and chaplain in Maryland; and was a chaplain in Pennsylvania. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.
Father Arnold Steffen was a missionary in Papua New Guinea for 59 years. He established a new mission at Mun, which served people in a 500-square-mile area and had 45 out stations; was pastor of the Kumdi Mission station; and was president of the Holy Spirit Seminary and provincial superior of the New Guinea Province. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.
Father Richard Thibeau worked in education, African-American ministry and as a missionary in Mexico. He taught at Divine Word seminaries in Pennsylvania and New Jersey; provided pastoral care and helped with the building of a youth center and hub for community action projects in Trenton, New Jersey; was rector of a Divine Word seminary in Conesus, New York; and built parishes and a medical centers in several Mexican towns and cities. He is retired at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.

Father George Bergin worked in vocation ministry, pastoral care and education. He served as dean of students at Divine Word Seminary in East Troy, Wisconsin; provided pastoral care at St. Clement in West Somerville, Massachusetts, and taught at the parish high school; served as associate mission director at the Mission Office, Techny; and served as a vocation director. He is the vice rector of the Divine Word Residence, Techny.
Brother Stephen Kerekes worked in business management and education and was a missionary in Papua New Guinea for 30 years. He worked in the society’s vineyards in Conesus, New York; is a master clockmaker; taught carpentry, math and science at St. Joseph Trade School; and served as a store manager and harbor master in New Guinea. He also was a radio station manager there, providing news to missionaries in out stations, coordinating weekly supply shipments and handling emergency requests. He is retired at Divine Word Residence, Techny.
Father William Seifert was an anthropologist and missionary in Papua New Guinea for more than 30 years. While there, he was a staff member for the Melanesian Pastoral Institute; did pastoral care; was vicar general for the bishop of Goroka for seven years and diocesan administrator for two years; and was episcopal vicar for the archbishop in Mount Hagen. He is the associate novice director at the Divine Word Residence, Techny.

He worked in HIV/AIDS ministry in Papua New Guinea; provides care for the people of St. Anselm and the Washington Park community; works with Angel Tree, a parish organization that provides for children who have a parent in prison; visits inmates in prison; and provides Bible study to those who are incarcerated. Father Quang Duc Dinh has worked in formation and vocation ministry, pastoral ministry and administration. He was formation director at Divine Word Theologate in Hyde Park; served as director of the SVD Associate program for men who have completed college and are called to a vocation as a brother or priest; was an associate pastor in San Bernardino, California; and was vice president for formation and dean of students at Divine Word College, Iowa; was rector of Divine Word Residence, Techny, and in June became the first Asian-born superior of the Chicago Province.

Father Thomas Jackson has been a teacher, preacher and pastor. He has served at Hales Franciscan High School, St. Rita High School, St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center and Holy Name of Mary Parish, where he is pastor.
Father Louis Morrone has been vocation director, novice director and campus minister. He is vicar provincial in Chicago.
Father Brian Walker, a Chicago native, has been an itinerant preacher and pastor. He served at St. Benedict the African, St. Basil and Visitation. He now is at the Province of St. Albert the Great.

Capuchin Friar Edward Foley has been a preacher, lecturer, author and presider. He served at St. Mary’s, Riverside; Ascension, Oak Park; and since 2008 has been a regular preacher and presider at Old St. Patrick’s Church. Since 1984, he also has served at Catholic Theological Union, where he is Duns Scotus Professor of Spirituality and professor of liturgy and music.

Father Vincent Elsen promoted vocations, worked with the Mission Band and was pastor of Corpus Christi Parish. He is retired at St. Clare’s Friary, Alton, Illinois.

60 years
Father Robert Karris, an Oak Lawn native, was a professor, provincial minister of the Sacred Heart Province, general definitor to the General Curia in Rome and director of research. He served at Catholic Theologian Union and in New York. He is semi-retired and does preaching ministry for Food for the Poor and supply ministry from St. Peter Friary.
Brother Herbert Rempe was dean of lay students, maintenance, treasurer of the Sacred Heart Province and director of Franciscan Outreach. He also served also with the front office staff of Friars Legion and at St. Peter. He resides at St. Peter Friary.
Father Luis Runde worked in the development office of the Sacred Heart Province, was a pastor, served with Tau House Ministries, and was a confessor and parochial vicar. He served at St. Peter’s and now does supply ministry at St. Germain Friary, Dittmer, Missouri.

Father Vincent Callahan was an associate pastor, confessor and associate chaplain in the Chicago archdiocese. He now does supply ministry, St. Clare’s Friary, Alton, Illinois. 
Father Kenneth Capaibo, a Chicago native, was an associate professor, provincial vicar of the Sacred Heart Province, confessor and chaplain. He serves in Vietnam and when not there is at St. Peter Friary. 
Father Joseph Carlos, a Chicago native, was in the military and was an associate pastor, pastor and parochial vicar. He is pastor of both St. Francis, Teutopolis, and St. Rose of Lima, Montrose, Illinois.
Father Charles Faso, a Chicago Heights native, worked in pastoral formation and as a confessor, pastor, capital campaign director, at the Center for Christian Meditation, in preaching ministry, as a pilgrimage leader and intinerant preacher to Franciscans and in the vocation office. He served in Chicago at St. Peter. He now does preaching ministry, is a pilgrimage leader and itinerant preacher at St. Gratian Friary, Countryside.
Father Michael Haney has been an associate pastor, pastor, member of the formation staff and business manager. In Chicago he served as director of formation. He now is pastor and shrine director at Cross in the Woods, Indian River, Michigan.
Brother Patrick Hanrahan has been a member of the parish staff and worked in the gift shop and as a sacristan at St. Peter. He now works in health care in St. Louis.
Father James Hoffman worked as a chaplain; for Franciscan Outreach; as parochial vicar; as coordinator of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation; as a confessor; and in the Call to Africa project. He is a confessor and does outreach ministry at St. Peter Friary.
Father Lawrence Jagdfeld has worked as a chaplain, academic dean, secretary of the Sacred Heart Province, associate director of novices, teacher, writing president of Mayslake Village, director of Friars Legion and director of candidates. He served as editor of the ORDO; chaplain to the Franciscan Sisters in Frankfort, Illinois; in preaching ministry; and at Hales Franciscan High School.
Father George Musil, a Chicago native, was an associate pastor and chaplain. He served at Oak Forest Hospital and is a confessor at St. Peter Friary. 
Father Fred Radtke, a Chicago native, was a spiritual director, director of formation, confessor and pastoral associate. He served at St. Peter as director of worship and was associate director of the Vocation Office and he served in Zaire. He is the parochial vicar of Holy Trinity Parish, Fairview Heights, and St. Stephen Parish, Caseyville, both in Illinois. 
Father William Spencer has been an associate pastor, chaplain, pastor, director of the Franciscan Vocation Center and coordinator of Inner City Special Ministries. He served at Hales Franciscan High School and was pastor of St. Peter and director of Franciscan Vocations, Cicero. He is provincial minister of the Sacred Heart Province, St. Anthony’s Friary, St. Louis.

Missionaries of the Precious Blood

Father Dennis Kinderman has done pastoral work, campus ministry and retreat and youth work, coordinated lay associates and done provincial administration. He also worked in Ohio. Since 2003 he has served with Chicago’s Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation.
Father Alphonse Spilly has been an instructor, member of the society’s senate, director of the theologate and of formation; taught at the Catholic Theological Union and Mundelein Seminary, Mundelein; was a special assistant to Cardinal Joseph Bernardin and Cardinal Francis George; and was director of the Joseph Cardinal Bernardin Center for Theology and Ministry at Catholic Theological Union. He served in Indiana, Ohio, and Texas, where he continues to assist Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Siller.

Father Richard Grek, a Chicago native, served in formation ministry, education, pastoral work and as a novice director. He served at St. Mary of the Angels and Mary Seat of Wisdom, Park Ridge, and in Canada, Florida, Nevada and California. He is senior priest at his Chicago congregation.
Bishop Robert Kurtz, a Chicago native, ministered in pastoral and administrative work and as a missionary. He served as bishop in Hamilton, Bermuda, for 21 years, as a missionary in Mexico and superior general in Rome for 18 years. He will be serving as a novice director in Chicago.
Father Dennis Sanders, a Chicago native, worked in hospital ministry, chaplaincy, ethics and school and congregation administration. He served at Gordon Tech High School, Weber High School, Resurrection Medical Center and was the assistant superior general in Rome. He is a chaplain for the Daughters of St. Mary of Providence.
Father Gene Szarek, a Chicago native, worked in education, pastoral ministry and administration, and as a vocation director. He served at Gordon Tech High School, St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr, Weber High School and Loyola University. He now is provincial superior,
Father Donald Suberlak, a Chicago native, has taught and done pastoral work. He served at Gordon Tech High School and in Canada, Missouri, Alabama, Florida and Michigan. He now is a senior priest in Union Pier, Michigan.
Father Gerald Watt, a Chicago native, has worked in pastoral ministry and education and as a physician assistant. He served at Gordon Tech High School and St. Hedwig and in Nevada, Michigan and Canada. He now is a senior priest in Morris, Illinois.

Father George Zieba has done pastoral ministry and been a parochial vicar. He served at St. Hyacinth and in Woodstock, Illinois; Alabama; and Florida. He is pastor of St. Pius X in Lombard, Illinois.

Father William Mayer was a teacher, administrator, chaplain and parish minister. He served at St. Philip High School and in Wood Dale, Peoria, Springfield and Kankakee, Illinois; and in Wisconsin and Massachusetts. He retired to the Province Center, Arlington Heights, and now is at Addolorata Villa, Wheeling.

Father Richard A. Rinn, a Chicago native, was a teacher, counselor, school administrator and parish minister and served on many chapter advisory committees, the social justice commission and in provincial leadership. He taught at St. Viator High School and 27 years later returned as its president. He taught in Las Vegas where he now is pastor of St. Viator Catholic Community.
