Archbishop Cupich will join young adults of the Archdiocese of Chicago on Palm Sunday, March 29, at 3 p.m., in the Holy Name Cathedral Court Yard, State and Superior Streets, to celebrate the World Youth Day 2016 Kick-Off. Palm Sunday Mass will be celebrated in the church by Father Bradley Zamora, associate pastor and director of liturgy at Holy Name Cathedral, beginning at 5:15 p.m. This Palm Sunday, young adults will come together to pray and prepare for Holy Week, as well as World Youth Day. They will celebrate this year’s World Youth Day theme, “Blessed are the pure of heart, for they shall see God” (Mt 5:8). Participants will pray the Divine Mercy chaplet in four different languages; English, Polish, Spanish and Tagalog, as a reflection of the diversity of the archdiocese and the different cultures represented at World Youth Day. Following the chaplet, Archbishop Cupich will offer a reflection. The Young Adult Ministry Office of the Archdiocese of Chicago, in collaboration with Faith Journeys LLC, is leading an official pilgrimage of young adults to Kraków, Poland, for World Youth Day 2016. This is the largest gathering of young adult Catholics in the world and only happens every two or three years. The 2016 World Youth Day will take place from July 25-Aug. 1. The theme for 2016, chosen by Pope Francis, is, “Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy,” (Mt 5:7). The archdiocesan pilgrimage offers four different price packages, including various combinations of airfare, accommodations and tours. For more information on the pilgrimage, visit www.yamchicago.org/wyd2016 or contact the Young Adult Ministry Office at 312-534-8600.
