When Markie and Steven Works of St. Peter Parish in Volo learned about St. John Cantius Parish’s Crusaders for Life, a youth group that attends prolife events carrying yellow balloons bearing the word “life” written in capital letters, the couple thought of their yellow Chevrolet Super Sport Roadster.

Markie Works contacted Father Nathan Caswell at the parish and asked if the group wanted to use the truck in marches. He said “yes.”

So Works had black magnets made spelling out the word “life,” affixed them to the doors and the trunk and took it down for the Chicago March for Life Jan. 17 for its first event.

“We love the Crusaders for Life. They are so inspirational,” Markie Works said. “We wanted them to know we’re with them every step of the way.”
