On Oct. 2, 2020, the faculty and staff at St. Laurence High School in Burbank celebrated Mass and consecrated themselves to the Blessed Mother.

During these difficult times, devotion to Mary has become so important. Mary is our helper and intercedes when need is the greatest. The consecration to the Blessed Mother reaffirms the school’s confidence that with her help, they can overcome. The mass was celebrated by Father Matt O’Donnell (St. Laurence Class of 2004 and pastor, St. Columbanus Parish in Chicago) and assisted by the well-known Arch Maryologist, Father Jim Presta (St. Laurence Class of 1978 and pastor, St. Emily Parish in Mt. Prospect).

An icon of Mary was blessed at the end of Mass by Father Matt. The icon is that of Our Mother of Perpetual Help. The Christian Brothers, who founded St. Laurence High School, have a special devotion to OMPH, so the school has made the consecration as such: St. Laurence High School - consecrated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the maternal protection of Our Mother of Perpetual Help.
