Kathryn Worthen receives Sister Thea Bowman Humanitarian Legacy Award

Kathryn Worthen of the Ladies of St. Peter Claver St. Felicitas / St. Ailbe Court 181at St. Katharine Drexel was honored March 30 with the Sister Thea Bowman Humanitarian Legacy Award.

Worthen has devoted much of her time, talents and resources to ensure the education and well being of students locally and throughout the country. She is very involved in both her parish St. Katharyn Drexel and her court. She also volunteers in her local community.

Employed by the State of Illinois Department of Human Services from 1965 through 2000, she was responsible for administering human service, staff training and substance abuse programs of the Department throughout the State of Illinois. She earned two masters degrees and has won several outstanding citizen awards.

Worthen said she is grateful to share, that through the grace of God and prayers of the faithful, she is celebrating her second year of being in remission of Leukemia.
