Nov. 12, 2018 – St. Bede School celebrated being named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education.

St. Bede School was formally recognized during an award ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Nov. 7 and 8. St.Bede School was recognized under the category of “Exemplary School,” meaning these schools are among the nation’s highest academic performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.

“We are very proud to accept the Blue Ribbon on behalf of our academic team, the children, their parents and the members of the community who support us in action and prayer,” said Mrs. Patricia Strang, principal. “St.Bede School is educating a new generation of leaders who understand their responsibility as global citizens to care for the earth and its inhabitants. Each day they grow in faith, wisdom and love.”

The Blue Ribbon School Award celebration took place Nov. 12. The celebration began with a community Mass at 8:30 at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish, St. Bede Church site, followed by an awards assembly at St. Bede School, 36399 N. Wilson Road, Ingleside.

Speakers were Siona Mishra, St. Bede School student council president, Melissa Greenenwald, school board president, Donny Schmit, Village of Fox Lake mayor and Father George Koeune, pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish.

We thank them for their kind, heartfelt and inspiring words about St. Bede School. The eighth grade class gave a cheer and the students sang, Go Make a Difference." as they left the assembly. @School_StBede
