Fathers Andrew Bartos and Father Andrzej Juszczec from St. Bruno and St. Richard Parish bless animals on Oct. 2, 2021 in celebration of the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. St. Francis’ feast day is Oct. 4. To commemorate this observance, more than 110 Archdiocese of Chicago parishes hosted outdoor pet blessings over the weekend. (Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic)
