Little Village street Masses bring message of peace, hope
Viatorian Father Fredy Santos raises the chalice during a Mass on Trumbull Street on June 18, 2019. For the 18th year St. Agnes of Bohemia Church, 2651 S. Central Park Ave., is holding street Masses throughout June and July in an effort to bring the Gospel message of peace and hope to the streets of the Little Village neighborhood. The day before a Mass, dozens of parish volunteers go door to door with fliers inviting neighbors to participate. During these visits, volunteers typically encounter people new to the neighborhood as well as longer-term residents who may not be aware of the parish’s services. (Karen Callaway/Chicago Catholic)
