Movie renews interest in the life, work of Mother Cabrini
A new movie about St. Frances Xavier Cabrini is driving renewed interest in the woman who founded hospitals, schools and institutions around the country, including Columbus Hospital, Columbus Extension for the Poor at Lytle and Polk, and Assumption School at 319 W. Erie St., in Chicago.
Jubilee year for Mother Cabrini kicks off at national shrine
The jubilee year to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the canonization of Mother Cabrini kicked off with a Mass on Nov. 13 and the opening of the holy doors at the National Shrine to St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, 2520 N. Lakeview Ave.
Shrine to launch jubilee year for Mother Cabrini
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the canonization of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, and to celebrate the occasion, the national shrine to her, located in Lincoln Park, is launching a jubilee year on Nov. 13. The year includes a plenary indulgence for those who make a pilgrimage to the shrine, walk through its holy door and complete the necessary requirements.

Even though St. Frances Cabrini was a native of Italy, the Archdiocese of Chicago will forever consider her one of its own because she ministered here and died here in 1917.
New documentary chronicles life of Mother Cabrini
Chicago audiences will recognize many of the settings in “Frances Xavier Cabrini: The People’s Saint,” a new documentary about the saint who died in Chicago 100 years ago.
