Good Friday indoors and outdoors at St. Joseph in Libertyville
As another sign of parishes adapting during the pandemic, St. Joseph Parish in Libertyville held Good Friday celebrations of the Lord’s Passion both inside and outside.
Brighton Park Via Crucis for peace
“I stand with some of the nearly 300 young people who went from our city’s neighborhoods most beset by violence to claim their right to life — to join with hundreds of thousands of others to call for an end to meaningless rhetoric, to say no to incrementalism and yes to solidarity and to make a pact to continue in one, persistent, diverse yet unified voice calling for justice,” Cardinal Cupich told a gathering of more than 1,500 at the end of a Good Friday Via Crucis in the city’s Brighton Park neighborhood on March 30.

Leading a prayer to God for the grace to feel ashamed and repentant for so many sins in the world, Pope Francis highlighted the hope that always comes from Jesus.
Many hundreds turn out for Good Friday Walk for Peace
On Good Friday morning, April 14, many hundreds of people joined Cardinal Cupich in Chicago’s Englewood neighborhood for a Walk for Peace. Civic and faith leaders also joined the walk along with members of Chicago’s police and fire departments.
