Summit encourages using Catholic social teaching when investing
Leading with faith can help create the kind of development that sustains rather than destroys existing communities. That was the message delivered by leaders of the Lawndale Christian Development Corporation, who spoke Sept. 25 to participants during a two-day Catholic Social Teaching Investing Summit hosted by the Francesco Collaborative and the Catholic Impact Investors Collaborative.
Local network promotes discussion around criminal justice reform
The Catholic Criminal Justice Reform Network is working to bring Catholic social teaching to the discussion of reforming the criminal justice system in the United States, emphasizing that all people, including those who have committed crimes, have the dignity that comes from being made in the image and likeness of God.
USCCB brief backing unions the talk of Catholic labor meeting
The fact that the U.S. bishops wrote an amicus brief in January supporting labor unions in their battle to avoid a “right-to-work” environment in the public sector was the talk at the Feb. 3 annual meeting of the Catholic Labor Network.
