High schools prepare for in-person graduations
Some Chicago-area Catholic high schools are renting professional sports venues for graduation this year, and others will use their own outdoor fields. Others are carefully planning how to arrange the graduates in indoor spaces, often with the ceremony livestreamed to family members elsewhere.

As we approach Catholic Schools Week this year, let’s take a moment to appreciate the teachers.
Catholic Schools Week looked different, still festive
Schools in the Archdiocese of Chicago celebrated Catholic Schools Week this year by highlighting their Catholic identity and showing appreciation to all the members of their communities, just as they always have, but things did look a little bit different.

Catholic schools: an investment through partnerships
As we celebrated Catholic Schools Week this year, I was reminded of the many partnerships that have made them possible throughout our country. Growing up in an immigrant community in south Omaha, my eight brothers and sisters and I were able to get a Catholic school education because of the sacrifices made by my parents and grandparents.
Wheels on the bus
It was a chilly, cloudy damp day when the bus broke down. It was one in a long chain of chilly, cloudy damp days we had in January, but it was Monday of Catholic Schools Week, and for Teresa’s school, that means a field trip. Specifically, a service-oriented field trip.
Two schools celebrate Renew My Church connection
When Cardinal Cupich celebrated a pre-Catholic Schools Week Mass with students from Queen of the Universe and St. Nicholas of Tolentine schools Jan. 24, it gave the students a chance to meet the archbishop.
School turns focus to those in need
Students at Immaculate Conception-St. Joseph School came together Jan. 29 to pack “blessing bags” for Catholic Charities as part of their outreach to the community for Catholic Schools Week.
Leo students share original stories of faith
On Jan. 29, the day before the polar vortex hit the Chicago area, about 20 second-graders sat quietly on the floor of a classroom at the Academy of St. Benedict the African, 6020 S. Laflin St., and listened as six sophomores from Leo High School read them books about faith that they wrote themselves.
